White storks returning to Latvia

On Tuesday the first white storks were seen in Latvia, according to the latvijasputni.lv bird watching website.

One stork was seen over Ventspils while another was seen in the Iecava region.

Last year the first white stork arrived on March 16 while in 2015 one was seen as early as March 4. In 2013 the first of them flew back on March 30 as spring came late.

While the white wagtail was observed on Sunday in Dviete. Waterbirds are returning too, with lapwings, cranes and other migratory birds returning for warm weather.
