Riga's municipal police performed a welcome public service recently by arresting a pair of Britons on a drunken rampage through Riga city center during which they terrified a woman and child and attempted to steal a car.

Dramatic footage shows police speeding to the scene on January 28 past Riga landmarks before apprehending the disgusting duo.

According to the police account, the heavily-intoxicated subjects of Her Majesty tried to smash a car window and steal a car -- despite the fact a woman and small child were sitting inside while the owner performed an errand.

A taxi driver approached and scared the pair off, then the owner of the car returned and reported the incident to police who were on the scene in under 2 minutes and arrested the offenders, aged 24 and 26 years.

Unable to explain themselves but clearly drunk, they were put in the back of a police van. Upon arrival one of the brave child-terrorisers tried running away, but as the video shows, didn't get far before running into a (parked) car.

Rising to his feet to continue his fearless fleeing strategy, police decided to stop messing around with this lion of Albion and tasered him.

Tests showed the two men to have blood alcohol content of 2.56 promiles and 3.18 promiles.

They were handed fines of €500 and €350 for petty hooliganism.
