The two wartime shells were found during digging works at 11 Lacplesa Street at around 3.20 p.m. today.
Due to safety concerns, the street was closed to traffic for about an hour in the section between Brivibas Street and Baznicas Street. Traffic was also suspended on Brivibas Street between Lacplesa Street and Gertrudes Street.
Police spokeswoman Samanta Capkovska informed that the shells were found during the demolition of an old building. Police are now waiting for the arrival of unexploded ordnance disposal personnel.
