Border Watch: Three Russian warships spotted off Latvian coast

Take note – story published 7 years ago

Latvia's National Armed Forces (NBS) said Saturday it had identified three Russian naval vessels not far from the country's sea border.

An NBS tweet said the three ships were located nine nautical miles (17km) from Latvia's sea border and even named the vessels as the corvette 'Boikiy', the frigate 'Admiral Essen' and another corvette, 'Dimitrovgrad'.

As previously reported by LSM, Latvia has just added an extra patrol boat to its contingent policing the sea border as a result of increased Russian naval activity in the area.
