Reformative art
The Riga Bourse will on Saturday open a graphic art exhibition dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.
This is the first of the events dedicated to the events that shook Europe and Christianity to be held throughout 2017.
The major events feature works by renowned artists such as Gustave Doré, Rembrandt van Rijn, Albrecht Dürer, and more.
It will run until March 12 so there's ample time--but it may well turn out you go to see it more than once.

While the dainty Istaba (The Room) gallery is hosting Ilmārs Rumpēters' (US) exhibition until February 11.
Rumpēters, born 1929, is an emigre painter from Daugavpils (coincidentally the birthplace of Mark Rothko) and has alternated between an impressionistic and an abstract style throughout his career. It seems that Istaba exhibits paintings of the latter style.
Entry is free, and the place offers coffee, drinks, Latvian souvenirs and other pretty things.

Why merely stand up for women's rights if you can walk for women's rights?
Everyone who believes that women's rights are human rights are welcome to the solidarity march at 11:00 [on Saturday] from Poļu Gāte to the Freedom monument, say organizers.
While it can be argued that our weekend events are strictly culture-related, this is a rare event where you can witness Latvian political culture in action.
