Ever been on a mine sweeping ship? On November 18 and 19 you can look at one - or several - as NATO minesweepers from the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 1 (SNMCG1) are arriving in the Rīga Passenger Port on Thursday, reported Latvian Radio.
The ships - eight in total, and not limited to mine sweepers - will be open for visitors from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
They are regular participants in NATO exercises and engage in mine sweeping across the Baltic and Northern sea day-to-day.
Latvia's Imanta, Germany's Elbe, Lithuania's Skalvis, Estonia's Sakala, UK's Grimsby, the Netherlands' Willemstad, Belgium's Narcis and Norway's Måløy will be anchored at the central Rīga port.
Here's a Facebook entry offering a look into SNMCG1 activities during the recent Noble Mariner 16 exercise.
