Latvian caught smuggling Vietnamese into Poland

Polish customs officers detained a 43 years old citizen of Latvia who had smuggled into Poland ten Vietnamese migrants, hidden among fruit containers in his minivan, reported LETA via Polish TV Wednesday.

When a group of customs officers stopped the minivan, they found that some of the containers, which were supposed to contain fruit, were empty.

Customs representative Maciej Czarnecki told the TV channel in Bialystok that the officers decided to check the rest of the cargo and found people – eight men and two women - hidden among the containers.

“All of them are adults. Eight of them had ID documents stating that they are Vietnamese,” said a representative of the Polish border guard service.

The illegal immigrants, most probably, will be deported to Lithuania, because they had arrived in Poland from this country.
