Latvia least open to asylum seekers in the EU

A Wednesday piece on asylum seekers in Europe by Pew Research Center shows that Latvia is among the least welcoming countries for asylum seekers, having admitted only 8.3% of asylum seekers from in the period from January to June 2015. 

The US thinktank compiled available migration data by Eurostat, showing the countries where asylum seekers come from, where they want to go, where they are most welcome, as well as which nationalities are most likely to win asylum. 

Eastern and Central European states were the least likely to have a welcoming stance towards asylum seekers, with Hungary admitting 12.3% and Poland 14.6% respectively.

States like Luxembourg and Iceland followed suit with 19.5% and 21.1% respectively.
