Latvia’s Constitutional Court Tuesday threw out the the appeal of Russian pop singer Yosif Kobzon over his inclusion on a blacklist, news agency BNS learned from court aide Līga Pauliņa.

The Russian crooner, whose statements in July prompted Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs to declare his and two other fellow pop stars’ names to be on Latvia’s persons prohibited from entry lodged his appeal in December. He hoped to challenge the Immigration Law preventing his appeal of the blacklist ruling.

However, the Constitutional Court declared through its spokesperson that Kobzon had not proven any violation of his fundamental rights.
