A medical examination at a nearby hospital revealed the suspect, arriving from Argentina, was a drug 'mule', having had no fewer than 37 separate packets in their body containing 938 grams of cocaine.

Two more Latvians were also arrested as part of an investigation on suspicion of being accomplices the next day.

Public prosecutor Taavi Perni said the method of smuggling the cocaine internally was "very dangerous" with the bursting of  single one of the 37 packets likely to produce an instant fatality.

A criminal pre-trial investigations conducted by the Tax and Customs Administration, and is headed by the Prosecutor's Office.

In order to reveal the unpleasant nature of the whole process, Estonian authorities released photographs of the immediate results of their seizure - with the warning that the images are not pleasant to look at.
