October 4 will be the 12th time Latvia has staged parliamentary elections. The first were in 1922 (4 years after independence was declared) and the most recent were in 2011 (unscheduled due to a constitutional crisis at the time).
There will be 100 Saeima mandates up for grabs.
The highest percentage of voter turnout was recorded in the 5th Saeima elections in 1993 (89.9%).
The highest total number of voters was recorded in the 4th Saeima elections in 1931 (1,217,914 voters).
This year's elections will see the largest number of potential voters ever (1,548,538).
In all there will be 1052 polling stations open worldwide, comprising 953 in Latvia and 99 abroad. Those 99 will be in 42 different countries.
13 parties are registered to compete in the elections, with 1156 candidates.
The Central Electoral Commission (CVK) has printed 1.5m voting papers and lists of candidates 32,000 posters and information boards, 18,700 brochures and 22,000 sets of ID badges and other materials for election staff.
