Basketball fans from the Baltic states are in for a treat next year after all three Baltic states were drawn in the same group at next year's Eurobasket championships.

At a draw ceremony held by governing body FIBA at Disneyland in Paris on Monday, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania all wound up in Group D, one of four groups containing a total of 24 teams.

As well as the Baltic trio, the other three teams in group D are Belgium, the Czech Republic and Ukraine.

The draw should ensure packed houses during the part of the tournament that will be staged in Riga, with other matches played in Zagreb, Croatia; Montpellier, France; Berlin, Germany.

The Executive Director of Riga City Council, Juris Radzevics said at the draw that 2015 is not the first time that the city has host a Eurobasket tournament.

"Seventy seven years ago, Riga only had eight months to build a new sports arena and organize the second European Championship in basketball. Now, eight months before EuroBasket, Riga already has a great arena for basketball and good tourism infrastructure," he said.

Eurobasket 2015 will run from September 5 to 20, 2015.
