Sea patrols keep watch on Russian vessels

Take note – story published 9 years ago

National Armed Forces (NBS) maritime patrols have spotted several more Russian military vessels in the past few days.

Thursday morning 10 nautical miles from Latvia's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) waters the NBS sighted both a submarine as well as its support vessel for a repeated time.

According to previous tweets from the NBS, Wednesday night’s encounter happened about 3.5 nautical miles from Latvia’s EEZ waters, where an unaccompanied submarine support ship CC-750 was spotted.

Late overnight from Sunday to Monday the already-familiar corvette Boikiy reappeared and was monitored by the NBS 7.7 nautical miles off Latvia’s maritime jurisdictions, opposite the quiet recreational seaport town of Pāvilosta.
