She said that, by turning Ukraine into a successful country, people from the occupied territories will be interested to become a part of this success. That will be the safest and the most opportune time to regain the occupied territories, though she was wary of saying that Crimea would be among the regained territories when the time comes.
Syroyid stated that, despite the Minsk agreement, war is still ongoing in Ukraine. Furthermore, it is not just a Ukranian conflict and other solutions should be sought to remedy the situation.
"I realize that Europe and the rest of the world is probably tired of all the endless talk about Ukraine, but this is not just a Ukrainian crisis or a conflict in Ukraine. It is Russia's war against Ukraine and the international justice system," she said.
When asked about how Latvia could help Ukraine, Syroyid said that Latvia already does a lot to help Ukraine - there are not many such countries in the EU, and they are the biggest advocates of Ukraine's interests.
Every Ukrainian knows that and is grateful for knowing that Ukrainians aren't alone and someone else is trying to tell the truth about what is happening in Ukraine, said Syroyid.
She also said that humanitarian aid, charity and any other help is no less important than the stance Latvia, Poland, Lithuania and other countries are voicing in Europe.
