In 2017 Norway's low-cost airline Norwegian is planning to set up a base in Riga where a B737-800 plane could be stationed, the airline's CEO Bjørn Kjos told Routes Online Tuesday.

The Riga International Airport will be home to a Boeing 737-800 operation.

The base could open in the second quarter or early in the third quarter of 2017.

Meanwhile, Riga Airport confirmed to LETA news agency that discussions are taking place with Norwegian on possibly establishing a base. The talks should conclude by year-end.
