Fiberglass company to open US factory

Leading Latvian company Valmieras stikla šķiedra (Valmiera Glass) announced Tuesday it is to establish its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Dublin, Laurens County, Georgia.

Governor of Georgia Nathan Deal made the announcement, a company release said in a move that is expected to create 150 jobs in the US and will total a $20m investment over five years.

Valmiera Glass will locate in a 40-acre industrial park at an approximately 80,000-square-foot (7,400 square-meter) facility to manufacture value-added fiberglass products for the North American market, many of them destined for use in the automotive industry

Andre Heinz Schwiontek, Board Member and Vice President of Valmiera Glass said: “Valmiera Glass Group sales increase in North America every year, 14% of the total turnover of the company is exported directly to the United States and Canada. Now we will ensure that the products are available closer to the customer, the products will not fall out of schedule, long-term profitability will increase and we will have a chance to develop closer partnerships with our key customers."

Production is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2015.
