The vehicles, which include 14 of the famous M1 Abrams tanks, are being prepared to be sent on from Poland by rail and will be despatched to their base at Adazi on the northern outskirts of Riga.
Ahead of the equipment came more than 200 US military personnel, who arrived early February 5.
The deployment comes in advance of the arrival in the Spring of a multinational NATO battalion led by Canada which is designed to deter any aggression from Russia.
