Latvia's Armed Forces on December 13 recorded one of the more notable identifications of Russian military hardware of recent weeks.

NATO's Baltic Air Police jets identified two Sukhoi Su-27 jets, which are fairly freqient vsitors, and one more advanced Su-30 "close to Latvia's sea border".en route to Russia's Baltic exclave of Kaliningrad.

It was time to play "I spy" at sea too, with a Russian Parchim class corvette spotted 13 nautical miles (24 kilometers) from Latvia's sea border.

Later in the day the Armed Forces reported a matching Kilo-class submarine to complete the set.
