According to an organizers' release, in 'Restart' the artists focus on searching for "a connection between the past and the present".
It will take place until June 12 at the Riga Art Space.
One of the artists, Zane Mellupe, spoke to Latvian Television's Ilze Strenga about her work.
Mellupe has been living in Shanghai for 15 years and in her works--for which she has come up with the term, 'Relatography' as photos are showcased hand in hand with related objects--memories of Latvia are linked with her time in China.
"[The works] are, in general, cultural codes of a sort that, looking back at it, are following me. [In] the way Latvia has influenced my visual understanding and consequently how my visual language has been shaped," Mellupe told Latvian Television.
While curator Inga Brūvere told Latvian Television that "the concept [of the exhibit] is based on memories, dreams, and reality. The way artists are working, for example, with the topic of memories, is very, very different."
'Restart' will feature Amalia Ulman (USA), Agnieszka Polska (PL/NL) and Witek Orski (PL), Eva Stenram (SE/UK), Natasha Caruana (UK), Isabelle Wenzel (DE), Alexander Ugay (KZ), Camille Laurelli (FR/EE), Zane Mellupe (LV/CN), Meggy Rustamova (GE/BE), Danila Tkachenko (RU), Jana Romanova (RU), Laura Prikule (LV), Karoliina Paappa (FI), Katinka Goldberg (SE/NO), Paul Herbst (LT/DE), Arnas Anskaitis (LT) and Uldis Briedis (LV).
