Munch to meet Rothko in Daugavpils

For its fourth birthday, the Mark Rothko Art Center will host a painting by renowned Norwegian expressionist painter Edward Munch. It will be the first time that an art work by the Edvard Munch is displayed in Latvia, the center told the press.

The painting is a portrait of the Norwegian lawyer Ludvig Meyer. It will arrive to Latvia from the Trondheim Art Museum. 

It will be on show from April 21 to September 9.

The exhibition was made possible through cooperation between Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments, Trondheim Art Museum and with the support of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Latvia and the Daugavpils City Council.

The event is also supported by the Bilateral Cooperation Fund of the Norway Grants 2009-2014 program and the National Bilateral Fund of EEA/Norway Grants 2009-2014.
