The choir also hit the right note with the audience, receiving a viewers' choice award and scooping the Günther Mittergradnegger Award for their interpretation of Ēriks Ešenvalds' Rivers of Lights.
"Victory at the Spittal Choral Singing Competition is a nice ending for the season, and I'm ineffably glad about what we've done and thankful for the support and love of the viewers," said artistic director Nora Vītiņa, thanking conductors Rūdolfs Krēsliņš and Agnese Urka for their collaboration.
The fiercest competitors for the choir were the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts choir lead by Alois Glassner who finished second in classical and modern works and first in folk song.
The Spittal International Competition of Choral Singing flocks choirs from across the world since 1964. Prior to 2016, Latvia has been awarded four times, in 1983, 1999, 2002 and 2005.
