Despite having a population of only around 15,000, Cēsis and its surrounding district boast a surprising number of businesses with international appeal, from the famous axes of the Autine forge to the Kampenuss furniture carpentry and one of LSM's own favorites, Write It Notebooks.
It is hoped the 56-page magazine, in both Latvian and English, will serve as a sort of catalogue of Cēsis' creative credentials, as town mayor Janis Rozenbergs and locally-based architect Toms Kokins told LSM at the launch.
As the pair point out, despite its relatively small size and the economic damage done by large-scale emigration in recent years, the town is seeing increasing numbers of people - and particularly young people - relocating from Riga and elsewhere.
